HawkesburyWatch Estuary Health Dashboard

The HawkesburyWatch Dashboard provides access to raw water quality data collected from seven real-time telemetric monitoring stations along the Hawkesbury estuary. This data is analysed to deliver insights on estuary health, algal bloom risk, swimming conditions at 13 mapped estuarine sites, and flood information. The dashboard also supports oyster harvest management through an alert system that triggers when salinity levels fall below thresholds, helping guide harvest decisions. Additional information on estuarine sediment quality is included. Raw water quality data includes variables such as water temperature, salinity, chlorophyll-a, and turbidity, collected at intervals of 15–30 minutes depending on the station. Real-time monitoring began in 2004 at Calabash Point, with subsequent stations established at Gunyah Point, Courangra Point, Wisemans Ferry, Bar Island, Crosslands, and Mullet Creek.

For details on the analytical methods used to calculate derived health scores and swimming grades, please refer to the explanatory content embedded within the dashboard.
