This integrated state-wide hydrogeological landscapes ( HGL) dataset provides a: * consistent salinity hazard map layer at state-wide scale; * data capture mechanism for all HGL work; * resource for salinity and landscape planning; * framework for salinity monitoring and project activity; * inform modelling including salinity modelling and pressure–state–response modelling. *

It is based on existing HGL mapping in NSW and ACT, and salinity hazard classifications provided for Salinity Hazard Mapping for Catchment Action Plans and Salinity Technical Reports prepared for NSW Water Resource Plans.

The dataset attributes overall salinity hazard to each HGL unit, as well as impact ratings for salt land, salt load and stream EC.

Development of this product was funded by the DPIE Water Basin Salinity Management Program.

The majority of the area covered by this product is based on regional scale mapping. Recommended scale of use is 1:250,000. Some areas have been mapped at a finer scale. Many of these are available on SEED as separate HGL products for each specific area.

The state-wide HGL is also provided as a layer on eSPADE.
